One of the major objectives of CARLIGH is the development of staff in member institutions.  We do this through a range of training programmes, which are organized both as interactive face-to-face events, and recently via online courses. Meetings of the Governing Council and Management Committee also provide opportunities for continuous self-development of attendees

For example in 2015 the following formal programmes have been held:

CARLIGH/INASP/CUUL Network of Trainers training:  10 academic/research librarians from Ghana joined 10 academic/research librarians from Uganda in two four-day workshops (one in Accra and one in Kampala), plus a community of practice.  Dates:  December 2014 – June 2015

CARLIGH workshop on “How to get published”:  24 academic/research librarians attended.  April 2015.

SABINET training:  10 librarians attended, with a facilitator from Sabinet.  June 2015

CARLIGH/INASP Advocacy discussion, with Margaret Law:  10 academic/research librarians attended a three hour session.  June 2015
