Dr. Theresa Adu, is a highly accomplished Uni versity Librarian at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). With over three decades of experience in the field, she has established herself as a leader in librarianship. Before joining UHAS, Dr. Adu spent seventeen (17) years in a Special Library at the Ghana Standards Authority, where she managed the Documentation Centre and WTO National Enquiry Point. She also served as University Librarian at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana for ten (10) years.

Dr. Adu holds a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of South Africa (UNISA), and an MPhil in Library Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon. Dr. Adu has published numerous articles and book chapters in highly indexed journals and serves as a reviewer for several reputable journals. Currently, she is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Academic Librarianship, and the Guest Editor for a Virtual Special Issue of the same journal on the theme: Academic Libraries Transforming Higher Education in Africa. 

Dr. Adu’s research interest is on Intellectual Property and related concepts in the scientific community, and is passionate about promoting literacy and numeracy skills in children. She emphasizes the importance of creating a reading culture among young people, citing its impact on academic success and long-term achievement.
Apart from serving as the current Country Coordinator for copyright issues for Electronic Information for Librarians (EIFL), Dr. Adu is also a member of the AfLIA (African Library and Information Associations and Institutions) Working Group on Copyright and Legal Matters, and a member of the Board of Directors for one of Ghana’s national newspapers, New Times Corporation.  Also, she is a chartered member of the Ghana Library Association and the Medical Library Association. Dr Adu is the current Chairperson for the Management Committee for the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Ghana (CARLIGH).
