The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Ghana (CARLIGH) has released the official communiqué of its 5th International Conference, held from 4th to 8th May 2026 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, under the theme "The Open Movement in Times of Urgency and Rapid Change."
The conference brought together academic librarians, researchers, institutional leaders, policymakers, technology partners, and open-science advocates from Ghana, Africa, and the wider international community to examine how open access, open science, and open educational resources can advance equitable knowledge sharing and national development. The resulting communiqué presents the conference's key observations, together with practical recommendations — spanning Diamond Open Access, open research infrastructure, OER, and the staffing, funding, and professional standing of academic libraries — for institutions, government, and partners to act upon.
